Freiburg – Medieval and Green City
Freiburg comprises both tradition and ecological innovation. During a tour through the city, you can get acquainted with both of these aspects. The route starts with a passage through medieval Freiburg with its famous highlights: the Gothic cathedral, the medieval canals (“Bächle”) and the amazing view over the town from Freiburg’s Schlossberg.
We then want to show you why Freiburg also bears the name “Green City” and is famous for its ecological awareness throughout the country. With the tram we will reach the “Ecovillage Vauban”. During a short tour through this quarter of the city, you will learn about the sustainable model district and its ecological construction. The tour will end with a glass of sparkling wine, which will be served inside one of the energy-efficient passive houses.
